Syntonic Light Therapy…I See the Light
Light Therapy, also known as Syntonics or optometric phototherapy, is the use of specific prescribed colors of light to help balance the autonomic nervous system from a fight or flight response.
The visual response to stress is constricting the peripheral field and becoming more focal. This tunneling type of visual behavior decreases visual-spatial awareness which can cause symptoms ranging from losing one’s place when reading to feeling “lost in space” and overwhelmed in busy visual environments.
Light therapy calms the autonomic nervous system, balance peripheral and focal vision, and open constricted visual fields to take in more space or information.
